I had not heard of this cafe until one of my friends who visited Japan recently told me that they wanted to go to this cafe. I started google-ing and… well, why not! It seems like a fun place to go.

This cafe is located on the 4th floor of YM square building, opposite Laforet Harajuku

Kawaii Monster cafe Map

Cafe entrance, so colorful from the very fist moment I step in

According to Japan today;

“The Kawaii Monster Cafe is a collaboration between Art Director Sebastian Masuda, a pioneer of Japanese kawaii [cute] culture, and Diamond Dining. Masuda is also the founder of Harajuku’s 6%DOKIDOKI shop, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, and has even collaborated with Japanese pop and fashion icon Kyary Pamyu Pamyu.”

If you don’t know Kyary Pamyu Pamyu… never mind. Let’s just say it’s a very colorful cafe with many colorful food and staffs in cosplay.

Sounds interesting, doesn’t it?

When we arrived at the reception, the staff asked us which cafe theme we would like. Apparently there are 4 zones within this cafe;

  1. Mushroom disco
  2. Milk stand
  3. Bar experiment
  4. Mel Tea-Room

We can only take photos in the zone that we choose. Staffs recommended Milk stand and bar experiment and we chose the milk stand.

The table charge is 500 yen per person. Food and drinks are not included.

For our blog fans, show the flyer to Kawaii monster cafe staff and you will get a table FREE OF CHARGE.

If there are 4 of you, the discount would be 2000 yen, that’s huge!

The menu is on a tablet, and comes with pictures in English. Very convenient.

Drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic *

Fruity heavenly cocktail

We ordered 2 main dishes and 2 desserts.

Colorful rainbow pasta;

It was surprisingly good despite the very colorful color lol

Pasta is pepperoni based with 5 different sauces…

I think the yellow one  is mayonnaise with cheese and the red one is tomato sauce based. Definitely a must-try!

Colorful french fries

I would really love to try the candy salad and chocolate chicken mole amore next time I go there!

Now this is the fun part… the dessert!

3. Colorful poison parfait (2300 yen) and colorful poison cake (850 yen/piece)

They were all very delicious!

Mostly they are butter cream but for the cake, the chiffon inside is filled with berry mousse. I can eat this again anytime!

Staff in cosplay! You can take photos with them anytime.

These staffs are called the monster and there are four of them. Super cute!

Now let’s take a look at the restroom ….

The minute I walked in, I was so surprised.

I was kind expecting a plain and normal toilet lol

Hey, this is kawaii monster cafe, why did I even expect that to begin with? I need to tell my friend to come take a look.

Member cards and chopsticks as a present

I was very impressed and will definitely come here again in the future.

If you visit Tokyo or Harajuku, this is the place you shouldn’t miss.

Where to get the flyer? at TIC Harajuku!!
