Let’s find out what the Takeda Samurai Parade is about…
Takeda Samurai Parade is the biggest Japanese traditional festival held in Kofu, Yamanashi prefecture. To be specific, it is the largest gathering of Samurais in the world. This was recognized by Guinness World Records on April 7, 2012.
The main highlight of the event is the Koshu Battalion Deployment in honor of the famous Shingen Takeda (one of the most popular heroes of the Warring States Period).
The reenactment of the entire process consists of 1,500 locals from all around the prefecture dressed in traditional armor, going out to and returning from battle in the form of parades from the plaza in front of Kofu Station.
