SHIRAKAWAGO & SHINTAKACHIHO ROPEWAY~World Heritage

In a little town in Ōno District, Gifu, six hour drive from Tokyo, lies the Shirakawa village, famous for its beautifully preserved traditional houses. It was registered as a World Heritage Site in 1995 and has become one of the most popular tourist destination not only for Japanese but also travelers from all over the world.

From this site, you can either take the bus (5 mins) or walk (15 mins) to an observation deck that overlooks the entire village. The buses that run to the observation deck operates between 9 AM to 4 PM every day and comes 3 times an hour both ways, making it a very convenient access for tourists.

This hotel provides traditional Japanese style room like the one as you can see below and since its renovation in December of 2015, it now has 2 open-air hot spring where you can enjoy the full Japanese experience!

The hotel is also just a 2 minute walk from the Shintaka Ropeway where you can see some spectacular sites like the ones below in the winter! You can take the ropeway to a height of 2,156 meters above sea level and look down at the amazing snow-covered scenery all around you!

Among Japan’s World Heritage Sites, the Shirawaka-go village is the one that you should visit once in your lifetime!
